Martin Olson 72, Dies at Sioux Falls
Martin Olson, 72, Estherville, died Friday afternoon at Veterans Hospital, Sioux Falls, the result of a stroke. He had been in failing health the past few months.

Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Estherville Lutheran Church, Rev. Roy Hendrickson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call Reese-Henry Funeral Home, Estherville after 9 a.m. Sunday until noon Monday, when the casket will be taken to the church. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 29, 1967)

Funeral Rites Held for Martin Olson
Services were held for Martin Olson, 72, Estherville, Monday at 2 p.m. at Estherville Lutheran Church, Rev. Roy Hendrickson officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Olson died Friday at Veteran’s Hospital, Sioux Falls, the result of a stroke.

Martin Olson was born Feb. 11, 1895, at Estherville to Mr. and Mrs. Knute Olson. He received his education in Emmet County schools.

He was married Oct. 24, 1923 to Hannah Johnson, at Estherville. He was a World War I veteran. He was engaged in farming and trucking most of his life.

He was a 20-year member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, member of Estherville Lutheran Church.

He is survived by children: Helen (Mrs. Edar) Alseth, Forks, Wash.; Ruth (Mrs. Larry) Elwell, Wayzata, Minn.; Hazel (Mrs. Arnold) Wolle, Lewisville, Minn.; Richard, Harold, and Donald, Estherville; Clarence, Sioux Falls; and Eleanor (Mrs. Harold) Mustard, Estherville; also 26 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Jack Summers, Omaha; and one brother, Cliff, Spicer, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters and one brother. Military rites were conducted by local veterans organizations. Pallbearers were Edward McKean, Harry Jones, John Murray, James VanValkenburg, David George and Henry Klein. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 2, 1967)
