Estherville – Services for Mrs. Ethel (Gus) Meadows, 69, Estherville, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church, Estherville, with the Rev. Harvey Throop officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Meadows died Thursday [April 12, 1979] morning at Holy Family Hospital.

Friends may call at the Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville, until noon Saturday and at the church prior to services.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gustafson, she was born Oct. 7, 1909, at Carthage, S.D., and moved to Emmet County with her family and received her education in Estherville schools.

She was married to Kenneth Meadows on Aug. 27, 1932, at Miller, S.D. and the couple made their home in Estherville.

She was a member of the Emmet County Historical Society, VFW Auxiliary, Eastern Star, Social Order of Beauceant, White Shrine of Jerusalem, and First Presbyterian Church. She was employed for many years in the Emmet County Social Welfare office and was serving her first term on the Emmet County Board of Supervisors at the time of her death. She had also been active in church and community affairs.

Mrs. Meadows is survived by three daughters, Ann Enger, Kathy Erickson and Mary Johnson, all of Denver, Colo.; five grandsons; one granddaughter; one sister, Mrs. John (Everine) Amundson, Estherville; and one brother, Clark Gustafson, Estherville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one grandson, parents, two brothers and one sister.

Members of the White Shrine, Eastern Star and Beauceant will sit together for Mrs. Meadow’s services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 13, 1979)
