William Maxwell, Former Resident of Estherville, Dead
William M. Maxwell, 86, died at a convalescent home in Mason City, Iowa, March 6, 1939. Mr. Maxwell was born Sept. 11, 1853 at Fairplay, Wis., and was married April 10, 1876 to Mary E. Mott of Trempealeau, Wis. He lived in Iowa most of his life and a member of the O.R.C. until 1912, when he moved to Michigan and became involved in farming. In 192 he returned to Iowa where he has since made his home. He was preceded in death by his only son, Arthur, April 23, 1936. He is survived by his wife, Mary, and an adopted daughter, Mrs. Mable Russell of Iowa City, seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Peshak funeral home at Manly, Iowa.

The above was received from Mrs. Harry Eglin, formerly of this city. Wm. Maxwell will be remembered by many of the old time residents of the city. He resided here for many years while he was a conductor on the Rock Island. He built the home at the corner of 9th and what was known then as Maple street, where the family resided for many years.
