Graettinger – Jerry Arthur Madsen, 69, rural Graettinger, was found dead in the garage of his farm home Sunday, the victim of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Services for Mr. Madsen will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fuhrman Funeral Home, Graettinger, with interment in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at Fuhrman Funeral Home, Graettinger, from noon Tuesday until time of services.

Mr. Madsen was born Dec. 19, 1908, at Sibley, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Madsen. He attended rural schools in the Hartley area and graduated from Spencer High School in 1930. He worked at the Tangney Hotel in Spencer while in high school and for a short time following high school.

He was married to Pauline Lippert at Spencer on July 18, 1932. Mr. Madsen worked at the School for the Deaf in Sioux Falls for 10 years and farmed in the Graettinger area for the past 14 years.

Mr. Madsen is survived by his wife, Pauline; two sons, Arnold Madsen, Oroville, Calif., and Bill Madsen, at home; two grandsons; two granddaughters; and two brothers, Jack Madsen, Spencer, and Earl Madsen, Billing, Mont.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 9, 1978)
