Estherville – Services for Reuben Lutter, 69, Estherville, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Estherville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Harvey Throop officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.Mr. Lutter died Sunday [October 15, 1978] evening at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville.
Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, until 10 a.m. Wednesday, when the body will be taken to the church.
Mr. Lutter was born Jan. 29, 1909, in Grant Township in Kossuth County and attended Grant Consolidated School, where he graduated from high school. He then attended Iowa State University, Ames, graduating with a BS in chemistry in 1931. He was married to Phyllis Mary Misbach on June 25, 1938, in Fairmont, Minn.
He farmed near Ledyard following his marriage, then taught music in Akron, Armstrong and Lincoln Central school systems for over 20 years. He was also an avid photographer and was interested in geology and traveling.
Mr. Lutter is survived by his wife, Phyllis, Estherville; three daughters, Mrs. Ann Wallace, Estherville, Mrs. Jean Varnado, Waterloo, and Judith Lutter, Chicago, Ill.; three grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Lutter, St. Paul, Minn.; and two sisters, Mrs. May Selberg, Ledyard, and Mrs. Lydia Wellington, Springfield, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 17, 1978)
