Citizens Pass Away This Week
Fred Keller and Louis Appelt Died; Funeral Services Will Be Held on Wednesday Afternoon
Fred Keller, 67, passed away Sunday [March 23, 1941] at his home on south Twelfth street following an apoplectic stroke which he suffered Saturday morning. Prior to his death Mr. Keller had been in good health and his sudden death came as a great shock to his family and friends in this city.

Fred Keller was born April 9, 1874, in New York. When a young man he left New York and went to Illinois where he resided a few years. Thirty-eight years ago he came to Estherville where he has since made his home. Mrs. Keller [Eva Isabel Weimer] passed away in April 1929 [April 1931].

During his residence here Mr. Keller has followed the occupation of teamster. For a number of years he and his family resided in their home on what was formerly east Walnut street. Since Mrs. Keller’s death he has lived in a home on south Twelfth street. Mr. Keller had a genial, jovial manner that made friends for him wherever he went. Never grumbling at his lot in the world he was content taking things as they were so long as he could provide for his family and home.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the Sternborg Funeral home and 2:00 o’clock at the Christian church with Rev. Fred Sawyer officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill cemetery beside the body of his wife.

Surviving Mr. Keller are four sons and two daughters. They are Louis Keller and William Keller, of Estherville, Leo Keller of Britt, Burness Keller of Minneapolis, Mrs. Frank – of ---, Indiana, and Mrs. G.C. Clark of Spirit Lake. Twenty grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive beside one brother, J.A. Keller of Des Moines and two sisters, Mrs. A.T. VanValkenberg of Estherville and Mrs. Hattie Wing of Brewster, Minn. All the children and the brother and sisters will be here for the funeral.
