Estherville – Services for Edgar Allen Kautz, 76, of Estherville, are Tuesday, January 19, at 1:30 pm. at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home with the Rev. David Wendel officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. He died Saturday, January 16 at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.

There will be no visitation prior to the memorial services.

He was born February 18, 1916 in Sioux City to Clarence and Della (Allen) Kautz. He was united in marriage to Gertrude l. Guenterberg on October 16, 1937 in Fon Du Lac, Wis. The couple moved to California after their marriage where Kautz worked in a defense plant during World War II.

In 1944, they moved to Huntington, Iowa, and he worked with his father as a beekeeper in northwest Iowa and southern Minnesota. In 1945, he began working as a carpenter and he did carpentry work in the Estherville area until his retirement in 1971 due to ill health. He was a member of the Isaak Walton League.

Survivors include: daughters, Erma Keho of Des Moines, Karen Ann Halpern of Minneapolis, Minn., Peggy Lynn Johnson of Indianola; sons, David Kautz of Atlanta, Ga., Allen Kautz of Estherville; sisters, Frances Watkins of Janesville, Wis., Carol Conlin of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Gertrude, his parents and three sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 18, 1993)
