Knoxville – Funeral services for Mike Johnson, 45, of Knoxville, formerly of Estherville, are pending at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville. He died Wednesday, December 14 [13], at the V.A. Hospital in Iowa City. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 14, 1995)

Knoxville – Services for Mike Johnson, 44, of Knoxville, formerly of Estherville, will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at First Christian Church in Estherville with the Rev. Dr. Mike Thiel officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3368 and American Legion Post 91, of Estherville. He died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 1995 at V.A. Hospital at Iowa City.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home.

He was born March 28, 1951 in Estherville, the son of Roger and Irma (Hurst) Johnson. He attended and graduated from Estherville High School in 1969. He enlisted in the U.S. Army right after graduation and served during the Viet Nam War in the Army Medical corps at a hospital in Fort Bragg, N.C. After his discharge from service he lived in Estherville for a short time during which he attended classes at ILCC. Medical problems forced him to enter the V.A. Hospital in Knoxville. He has lived in the Knoxville area for the past 20 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Estherville; Alcoholics Anonymous, and a lifetime member of the American Legion. He remained single.

Survivors include his parents, Roger and Irma Johnson of Estherville; sisters, Mrs. Jim (Linda) Wee of Parkersburg; Mrs. Miguel (Beth) Montanez, Columbia, Md.; Mrs. Randy (Laurie) Shatley, Paddock Lake, Wis.; nephew and nieces.
