Elzy Elwood Hamrick, 79, a resident of Estherville of 37 years died at the university hospital at Iowa City Friday night [March 10, 1933] where he had been for five weeks for treatment of cancer.

Mr. Hamick was born on Sept. 25, 1854 at Wyanett, Ill., and had lived in Emmet county for 37 years. He was a rural mail carrier for 12 years and farmed near here.

Surviving Mr. Hamrick is one daughter, Mrs. Ira Stanley of Los Angeles, Calif., two brothers an done sister, John and Willis Hamrick and Mrs. Mary Hall of Wyanett, Ill., and four stepdaughters, Mrs. Russell Strait and Mrs. Levi Mink of Estherville, Mrs. Dale Wilson of Des Moines, and Mrs. H. Hayes of Eau Claire, Wis., also a nephew Harley Hamrick of Dickens. Mrs. Hamrick [Phena Louise Hartung] died four years ago.

Mr. Hamrick became a member of the local Presbyterian church 35 years ago and Rev. A. G. Bailey, pastor of that church was in charge of the funeral services held from the home Monday afternoon. Interment was made in Oak Hill cemetery. Pall bearers were John Wee, Geo. Rogers, Si Polson, Uriah Uptagraph, A. Lough and C. E. Cavin.
