Mrs. E. E. Hamrick Dead
Mrs. E. E. Hamrick died at her home in this city Tuesday morning [February 14, 1911] at about 8 o’clock of paralysis and a complication of other ailments. She had been under medical treatment for a long time but had not been confined to her bed at any time. About two o’clock Tuesday morning she was taken worse. Dr. Bradley was called and found that she had a very severe stroke of paralysis, from which she did not rally, and passed away a few hours later.

Funeral services are to be held from the residence Thursday afternoon, conducted by Revs. Pye, D. D., and Mitchell.

Phena Louise Hartung was born September 22, 1861, at Wyanet, Illinois, where she grew to womanhood. She was married May 30, 1880, to Elzy E. Hamrick, and to the union one child was born, Mrs. I. C. Stanley, of this city. March 1, 1895, they moved to Emmet county and resided on a farm east of town until about five years ago when they moved to Estherville. She was a member of the Presbyterian church of this city, and was a faithful worker. Besides a husband and daughter, she leaves a father, two brothers, and four sisters to mourn her untimely death.

She was most worthy lady and while her death was not altogether unexpected, it came as a shock to the community in which she was held in the greatest esteem. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, February 15, 1911)
