Estherville – Services for Mrs. Roy (Zella) Hammond, 72, Florissant, Mo. and formerly of Estherville, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home with the Rev. John Bowe of the United Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. She died Monday, April 1, 1985 at Florissant.Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday and until time of service on Thursday.
Zella Mae Rugtiv was born Aug. 11, 1912 at Oakes, N.D., the daughter of Oscar E. and Agnes M. (Church) Rugtiv. She received her education in the Waterloo, Ia. schools and received her R.N. degree at Waterloo also. On Feb. 18, 1940, she was united in marriage with Roy Hammond at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. The moved to Estherville in 1965 where they owned and operated the Estherville Trailer Sales until retiring in 1971. She moved to St. Louis, Mo. in 1981 and has lived there since. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two sisters: Dorothy M. Warwick, St. Louis, Mo. and Irene Limbach, Cape Girardeau, Mo.; two nieces, Mrs. Frank (Patricia) Zinke and Mrs. William R. (Yvonne) Wardle, both of St. Louis; two nephews: Robert Limbach, Cape Girardeau and Richard Limbach, Pittsburgh, Pa./
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband who died in August [31], 1972. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 3, 1985)
