Miss Mattie Gorton Passes Away
Miss Mattie [Martha] Gorton, of Cedar Rapids, a former resident of Estherville, died at the home of her niece, Mrs. Harry Doolittle in Cedar Rapids Sunday, May 10th. The body was brought to Estherville for burial this morning. Miss Gorton was a sister to Mrs. Williams, wife of Capt. L.S. Williams, who served as Clerk of Courts of Emmet County for several years in the latter part of the last century, and was postmaster here for several years. They resided on North Sixth Street, opposite the New High School building. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, May 13, 1931)
