Mrs. Ada Freed Funeral Held
Ada Florence Freed, 85, Buffalo, Mo., formerly of Estherville, died at 6:35 a.m. Jan. 14, at the Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Mo.

She was born Aug. 22, 1885, at Ida Grove to John and Kate Jenkins. She was married in 1902 to William Freed at Vale. Mr. Freed was a painter and interior decorator. They moved to Estherville in 1923. Mr. Freed died in 1943.

Shortly after his death, she moved to Rockford, Ill. In 1952 she moved to Tucson, Ariz., and since May of 1970, has been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Helen Johnson, in Buffalo, Mo.

Survivors include three sons, Clarence Freed, Bloomington, Ill., Floyd Freed, Rockford, Ill., Lawrence Freed, Tucson, Ariz.; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Towner, Torrance, Calif., Mrs. Florence Harrolle, Louisburg, Mo., Mrs. Helen Johnson, Buffalo, Mo.; and 20 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, William Freed Jr., six brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Reese-Henry Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Val Hauck of the Union Baptist Church officiated.

Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Romaine Peterson, Merle Petersen, Jack Twitty, Gene Frank, Robert Harrolle and Richard Peterson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 18, 1971)
