Estherville – Services for Clifford Fredericksen, 88, of Estherville will be held Tuesday, at 2:00 p.m. at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville, with Rev. Dr. John P. Besore, III officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Estherville. He died Saturday, January 1, 1994 at Holy Family Hospital.Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. today.
He was born March 14, 1905 in Ringsted, the son of Julius and Marian (Hansen) Fredericksen and attended Ringsted schools. On September 30, 1930 he was united in marriage with Dorothy Coulson inM Minnesota. Cliff was raised in the Ringsted area and served with the United States Navy during WWI. After his marriage, the family moved to Estherville in 1932. He served as Emmet County Sheriff for 10 years. He was then employed by the Greig Elevator and later managed the Superior Cooperative Elevator for 16 years. Before his retirement he managed the Stow Elevator in Dolliver for 8 years. He played on the Estherville All-Star football team for several years. He has been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville since February of 1993. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Estherville.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Estherville; two sons, Jack C. Fredericksen of Estherville and Larry L. Fredericksen of Newport Beach, CA; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and two sisters, Opal Butterfield of Fresno, CA, and Pearl Fischer of Las Vegas, NV.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one grandson, three brothers and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 3, 1994)
