O. [Ole] P. Olson, Long Time Resident, Laid to Rest Wednesday
O.P. Olson passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Kathryn Farguson last Sunday [June 5, 1938] at the age of 82 years.

Mr. Olson has been a sufferer from cancer for the last few months and his physical condition in recent years was such that he could not withstand the present affliction.

He was born in Denmark and came to this country in 1885. He formerly resided at Terril, moving to Estherville about 18 years ago. Mrs. Olson passed away in January, 1937.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the home and at 1:30 p.m. at the Methodist Episcopal church with Rev. F.W. Ortmeyer officiating. Interment was in Oak Hill cemetery.

Mr. Olson is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Farguson of this city, Thomas Olson of Okoboji, Louis Olson of Austin, Minn., and Peter Olson of Newton, all of whom were here for the funeral services. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, June 9, 1938)

Tom Olson, Okoboji, Mourns Death of His Aged Father
Funeral services were held in Estherville Wednesday afternoon for O.P. Olson, 82, father of Tom Olson of Okoboji. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Kathryn Farguson, Sunday after having suffered with a cancer of the face for four months.

Mr. Olson had lived in Estherville for 18 years and had visited here frequently. He was born in Denmark and came to this county in 1885. His first residence here was at Kimballtown, and later the family moved to Terril and then to Estherville. Mrs. Olson died in January, 1937.

Surviving are Mr. Olson and two brothers, Louis of Austin, Minn., and formerly of Arnolds Park, and Peter of Newton, besides the daughter and sister, Mrs. Farguson. Mr. Olson is also survived by two brothers, Louis and John of Bismark, N.D., and a sister who still resides in Copenhagen, Denmark. There are 11 grandchildren, including Marine and LaRue Olson of Okoboji. (Spirit Lake Beacon, Spirit Lake, IA, June 9, 1938)
