DIED: Bathena Clark, at Talapoosa, Georgia, May 10, 1896, aged 56 years, 4 months, 19 days.

Bethena Youker was born at Stratford, New York , December 21, 1839. She was married to Sylvester Clark, March 9, 1865. She was converted and joined the M. E. Church in 1867. In the fall of 1868 she came with her husband to Iowa and settled in Emmet county, where they have ever since resided. For sometime her health had been failing and all through the past winter she had been a great sufferer. The first of March she wanted to be taken to south in quest of health, thinking a southern climate would be conducive to better health. She was taken to Talapoosa, Georgia, where for a time she seemed to revive, but those hopes were soon to be dashed away by disappointment. She grew rapidly worse and died May 10. Her remains were brought back to Estherville for burial. The funeral sermon was preached on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church by her pastor.Rev. H. G. Pittenger. Her husband and two children, a son (Robert S. Clark) and daughter (Carrie Clark Carpenter), survive her.
