Estherville – Services for Marie Conlee, 86, of Estherville, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Mark Gabbard officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville. She died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999 at her home.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Home in Estherville.

She was born September 23, 1912 at Leith, N.D. the daughter of Peter and Martha (Tystad) Hauge.

She attended school in Leith and graduated from high school before going to business college in Bismarck, N.D.

She was united in marriage to Allen R. Conlee in Cresbard, S.D. on August 25, 1938. The couple lived in Bismarck, N.D.; Aberdeen, S.D.; Iowa City and Sioux Falls, S.D., before moving to Estherville in 1948. In Estherville she worked at the Jennings Int’l Harvester Dealership, P.G. Gray’s Produce and Pepsi Cola as a bookkeeper.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the VFW Auxiliary. She also read the river depth in Estherville for the State of Iowa for many years.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jerald (Audrey) Johnson, Estherville; a son, Robert Conlee, Mountain Home, Idaho; grandchildren: Douglas, Michelle, Kevin, David and Jennifer; great-grandchildren: Nichole, Jeremy, Andrew and Ethan; one brother, Grant Hauge, Elgin, N.D.; two sisters: Lillian Kimball of Gilray [Gilroy], Calif. and Alice Jones, Las Cruces, N.M.

She was preceded in death by her husband on May 3, 1983; parents; five brothers and three sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 29, 1999)
