Estherville – Frank Fuhrman, 54, Estherville, died Friday [October 24, 1980] morning at his home.Services for Mr. Fuhrman will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Estherville, with Father Albert O. Grendler officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Fuhrman Funeral Home all day Sunday and until time of services Monday. A Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. John Fuhrman, he was born Dec. 28, 1925, at Mammoth Spring, Ark., and received his education in Mammoth Spring schools. Following graduation from high school, he attended Worsham College of Mortuary Science at Chicago, Ill. He was married to Bernadene Calhan on June 27, 1953, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville.
Mr. Fuhrman was employed at the Western Funeral Home, Joliet, Ill., prior to becoming a partner in the Sandin-Fuhrman Home in Estherville in 1953. He later operated the business as Fuhrman Funeral Home. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1943 to 1945 and was stationed at Bury St. Edmunds, England, with the 94th Bomb Group while overseas.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge, past president of the Estherville Chamber of Commerce and Estherville Rotary Club, a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Iowa Funeral Directors and National Association of Funeral Directors.
Mr. Fuhrman is survived by his wife, Bernadene, Estherville; one daughter, Suzan Fuhrman, Sioux Falls, S.D.; one son, Thomas Fuhrman, Estherville; his mother, Mrs. John Fuhrman, Mammoth Spring, Ark.; one brother, John Fuhrman, Cherokee Village, Ark.; and one sister, Mrs. Ray (Louise) Underwood, Florissant, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his father. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 24, 1980)
