Estherville – Grant John Brown, 73, Charles City and formerly of Estherville, died Thursday [December 6, 1979] at Charles City.Services for Mr. Brown will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, with the Rev. Ronald Flentgen of the Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with military rites.
Friends may call at the funeral home until time of services.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Granville Brown, he was born on April 7, 1906, in Jackson County, Minn., and received his education in Estherville schools.
He was employed as a meter repairman and later for the Estherville Concrete Company. He resided in Charles City the past five years.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific and Phillipines.
Mr. Brown is survived by six sisters, Mrs. Herman Zerke, Estherville; Mrs. Alice Peterson, Osage; Mrs. Paul Pellner, Charles City; Mrs. Elmer Oelkers, Dunnell; Mrs. Ben Elwell, Estherville; and Mrs. Fred VanValkenburg, Omaha, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 7, 1979)
