Ex-Resident Dies at 82 in Illinois
James L. Brawford, 82, formerly an Estherville resident, died this morning of a heart attack in Peoria, Ill., where he had lived for several years.

He was the brother of Mrs. Lulu Schenck, an Estherville resident until recently, when she went to live with a daughter Mrs. Ell (Nellie) Carlstedt of Eveleth, Minn.

Other surviving nieces and nephews include Mrs. Art (Beverly) Lutz of Spirit Lake, Gail Schenck of Novato, Calif., and Mrs. Mel (Lucille) Roupe of West Bend. All are former Estherville residents.

Services are to be held in Peoria at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Gauss Mortuary.

The body will be returned to Estherville and graveside services will be held at Oakhill Cemetery at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Local arrangements are being handled by Reese-Henry Funeral Home. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 8, 1968)

Brawford were a nephew and nieces, Mr. and Mrs. John Leo Brawford of Osceola, Wis., Mrs. Mary (Mary Ann) Henceir of St. Paul and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry (Dorothy) Meiners of Gruver, all children of Leo Brawford. Unable to be here were Dick Brawford and Mrs. Jim (Mary Lou) Traupel; children of Louis Brawford; Mrs. Weston (Bette) Potter of St. Paul and Charles of Minneapolis, daughter and son of Leo Brawford.
