Estherville – Services for L. [Lee] M. “Mac” Brashear, 68 will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry G. Gatrel of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church at Spirit Lake officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. He died Thursday, Jan. 2, 1992 at his home.

He was born Jan. 25, 1923 at St. Louis, Mo., the son of John and Nettie (McCarty) Brashear. He attended school and graduated from high school in St. Louis. He served with the Army Air Corps during World War Two. He moved to Estherville in 1950 when he bought the Top Hat which he owned and operated as Mac’s Top Hat for over 40 years. On January 10, 1954 he married Maxine Nelson at Jackson, Minn. He served as an Estherville City Councilman a number of years and was a member of the Elks Lodge and American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine, Estherville; one daughter, Mrs. Chris (Debra) McCracken, Iowa City; five sons: Mike, Graettinger; Doug, Whittemore; Jeff, Denver, Colo.; David, Austin, Minn. and Tim of Estherville; nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 4, 1992)
