Estherville – Services for George Booth, 84, Estherville, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville, with the Rev. Fred Sawyer officiating.

Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville, with military rites.

Mr. Booth died Wednesday morning at Holy Family Hospital.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Friday until time of services.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Booth, he was born Feb. 22, 1895, on a farm in Jack Creek Township in Emmet County. He graduated from Estherville High School in 1917 and then served with the Motor Transport Corp. in Bordeau, France, during World War I.

Although continuing to reside in Estherville, he purchased land in South Dakota and raised wheat.

He served two terms on the Estherville City Council, was a charter member of the Emmet County Historical Society, member of the Military Order of Cooties, a life member of Abu Bekr Shrine, North Star Masonic Lodge 447, Knights of Pythias, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Elks Lodge, where he served as Exalted Ruler in 1939, 1940, 1941, 1967 and 1968. He also was a member of the Jeptha 128 Chapter of Esdrealeon Commandry and Consistory 32.

He was married to Gladys Heyer Bringle on Feb. 16, 1951, at Minneapolis, Minn.

Mr. Booth is survived by his wife, Gladys, Estherville; one sister, Priscilla Dow, Estherville; three step-daughters, Mrs. Vincent (Joyce) Satern, Okoboji, Mrs. James (Jean) Twogood, Anaheim, Calif., and Mrs. William (Phyllis) Woods, Estherville, 13 step-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 13, 1979)
