Services for Sevilla G. Hays, 90, of Esthervillea nd formerly of Gruver, will be held Tuesday, March 28, 1995 at 10 a.m., at the Gruver Presbyterian Church with Rev. Neal Armstrong officiating. Interment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville. She died Saturday, March 25, at Rosewood Manor Care Center in Estherville.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., Monday, March 27 at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman funeral home, Estherville.
She was born March 23, 1905 in Holland, Mich., the daughter of Anthony and Anna (Heiftje) Kuite. She began her education in Michigan and graduated from high school in Hampton, Iowa. She attended Iowa State teacher's College for two years. After college, she moved to Gruver where she taught school. On May 20, 1926, she married Elbert Hays in Fairmont, Minn. and the family lived in Sibley, Manly, Des Moines and Gruver school for a number of years. She moved to Estherville in 1985 and has been a resident of Rosewood Manor Care Center since 1993.
She was a member of the Gruver Presbyterian church, Presbyterian Women, Evening Circle, taught Sunday School and a former 4-H leader.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. John (Fauntelle) Blagg of Estherville; one son, Al Hays of Los Angeles, Cal.; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and two sisters, Leona Herman of Loma Linda, Cal; and Viola Scholmer of San Diego, Cal.She was preceded in death by her husband in 1961, her parents and infant son and one brother.
