Estherville – Services for Bessie Bigelow Irwin, 101, Colorado Springs, Colorado and formerly of Estherville will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Fuhrman Funeral Home with the Rev. John Bowe officiating; interment will be made in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friend may call at the Fuhrman Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Bessie Bigelow was born Oct. 1, 1880 in El Paso, N.Y, the daughter of Anson and Jennie Bigelow. At age of four moved to Estherville Area; she attended Jack Creek Township and Estherville Schools and Cedar Falls Normal. In Dec. 1905 she married William Simmons Irwin in Estherville. The couple farmed in Cologne, S.D., Ledyard, Mich. and Detroit, Mich. areas, before returning to Estherville in 1931. He died in 1952. In 1962 she started making her home with her son and lived in Hawaii, Florida, Washington, D.C. and California before Colorado.

She is survived by one son, Robert B. Irwin, Chipata Park, Colo.; one daughter, Mrs. Omar (Wilma) Nau, Colorado Springs; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sons, William, Eugene and Arthur; her husband, parents, five sisters and two brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 22, 1981)
