Mattie Frank, 85, Dies; Services to be Wednesday
Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Christine Frank, 85, Estherville, who died at 1:55 p.m. Saturday [November 15, 1969] from infirmities of advanced age, at the Good Samaritan Center, will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Reese-Henry Funeral Chapel in Estherville. She had been in failing health for the past two weeks.

She was born Nov. 8, 1884, [per cemetery records, 1883] at Lyons to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Hansen. She was educated in the Lyons and Terril schools. She was married to George Frank, Dec. 1, 1903.

They farmed near Estherville until 1945 when they moved to Estherville. In 1948, they purchased a resort on Spirit Lake, which they operated until 1955 when they retired and built a home on Spirit Lake. Mr. Frank died in November, 1960 after which Mrs. Frank made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Larson on Spirit Lake.

Mrs. Frank’s daughter died in 1964 and she moved to Hilltop Nursing Home in Spirit Lake. Three years ago she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

She was a member of the Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake and a charter member of the Four Mile Club of rural Estherville.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Violet Miller, Fort Dodge; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Ella Strait, Center Point.

She was preceded in death by parents, husband, one daughter, and five sisters.

The Rev. Fred J. Peters, Spirit Lake, will officiate and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may all after 7 p.m. Monday until time of services on Wednesday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 17, 1969)
