Estherville – Services for Roy Wilhelms, 74, will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Rick Capps officiating. Burial will follow in East Side Cemetery with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91. Visitation will begin after 4:00 p.m. Monday. Mr. Wilhelms died Saturday, August 26, 1989 at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.

Roy George Wilhelms was born February 11, 1915 to George and Ida Hansen Wilhelms at Rockwell City. He graduated from Moore (Montana) High School and took two years of watch repair training at Albany, Missouri. On June 8, 1947 he married Marie Haberman at Estherville. Mr. Wilhelms was in the European Theatre during World War II for three and one half years, most of which was overseas with the United States Army. He has lived most of his married life in Estherville where he did service station work and then clock and watch repair work for thirty years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Estherville, VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91. He was a World War II Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Marie of Estherville; a son, Ronald Wilhelms of Spirit Lake; a daughter, Mrs. Daniel (Patricia) Zbichorski of Fort Worth, Texas; a brother, Martin Wilhelms of Great Falls, Montana; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Stiffler of Sheridan, Wyo. and Mrs. Laura Rober of Sherburn, Minn.; and two grandchildren,

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Theodore and Harry. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 28, 1989)
