Estherville – Services for Oden Lawrence Wee, 92, of Estherville, will be held Friday at Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Arlyn Norris officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery, Estherville. He died Tuesday [June 10, 1997] at Holy Family Health Services.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

He was born May 13, 1905 at Thompson, the son of Lars and Barbu (Mokelstad) Wee. He moved with his family to Estherville in 1910 and received his education in the Estherville schools, graduating in 1922. After high school he worked on several jobs before working for the Rock Island Railroad from March 3, 1928 to retiring May 28, 1970. He was a brakeman and later promoted to conductor. On Nov. 17, 1938 he married Bernice Conklin at Sioux Falls, S.D. They made their home in Estherville. He retired after 42 years service. He was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church and a life member of the United Transportation Union, formerly the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.

Survivors include his wife Bernice of Estherville; daughter, Barbara Burns, Estherville; sons, Lynn of Spencer and David of Broomfield, Colo.; six grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson; three brothers and three sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 11, 1997)
