Estherville – Services for Wendell Wayne (Bus) Webber, 59, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Christian Church with the Rev. Robert Kunz and the Rev. Fred Sawyer officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetey with full military rites. He died Friday, Aug. 26, 1983 at Holy Family Hospital.Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home until noon Tuesday when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state. Masonic services will be conducted at the funeral chapel at 7:30 p.m. Monday evening.
Webber was born June 14, 1924 at Spirit Lake, the son of E.C. (Earl) and Susan (Freed) Webber. He moved with his parent to Estherville as a young child and attended the Estherville Schools. On May 6, 1948 he was united in marriage with Iola Mae Klein at Estherville. He worked on the Rock Island Railroad as brakeman for over thirty years.
He was a member of the Christian Church; active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars where he served in many capacities including past commander; a member of the Military Order of Cooties where he was a Seam Squirrel; member American Legion and North Star Masonic Lodge Number 447. He was a veteran of World War Two where he served in the United States Navy.
Survivors are three daughters: DuAnn Jones, Estherville, Mrs. Michael (Susan) Scott, Guernsey, Wyo. and Mrs. Terry (Patsy) Christiansen, Staples, Minn.; one son Michael, Graettinger; eight grandchildren; one sister, Lola Warrington, Ft. Madison; one brother, Clayton Webber, Sandstone, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Iola who died Sept. 2, 1981. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 29, 1983)
