Henry W. Thompson Dies at 75
Services Will Be Held Monday
Henry W. Thompson, 75, longtime Estherville business man, died yesterday at 1:30 P.M. IN Fort Dodge Lutheran hospital where he had been hospitalized for the past eight days following an operation.For the past year, he had been cared for at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W.L. Ericson, of Fort Dodge.
Thompson came to Estherville in 1913 from Bagley, and since that time has been engaged in business here, first as an automobile dealer, and in later years, in the carpenter trade.
He was born Henry Wade Thompson, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Y. Thompson, near Garden Plain, Ill., Feb. 11, 1875. At an early age, he moved with his parents to Guthrie county, Iowa where he received his education and grew to young manhood. On Mar. 3, 1897, he was married to Carena R. Morris and the couple farmed near Bagley until they moved to Estherville.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Vernon W. Thompson of Estherville; Wilton W. Thompson of Washington, Ill.; Clayton R. Thompson of Chevy Chase, Md.; and Mervin M. Thompson of Fort Dodge, and one daughter, Mrs. W. L. Ericson of Fort Dodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Sternborg funeral chapel with the Rev. Frielie E. Conway officiating. Burial will be in East Side cemetery in Estherville. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 29, 1950)
