James Sidles Services Held
James (Dick) Sidles of Emmetsburg died at his home on Monday, June 18, 1979. He was 75.Services for Mr. Sidles were held Wednesday, June 20, at 10:30 a.m. from the United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. William Cotton officiated.
Burial was in East Side Cemetery, Estherville, with Belter Funeral Home of Emmetsburg in charge of arrangements.
Casket bearers were Jon Sidles, David Sidles, Timothy Sidles, Ramon Sidles, LaMont Naig and Joe Naig.
James Sidles was born Sept. 22, 1903, in Huntington, Ia., the son of John and Della (Tuttle) Sidles. He attended the Huntington Country Schools.
On June 19, 1929, James Sidles and Gladys Harris were married at the Dolliver Methodist Church. The Sidles farmed in the Huntington and Estherville areas before moving to the Emmetsburg area 27 years ago. Mr. Sidles retired in 1970.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys; four children: Donald Sidles, Arvin Sidles, and Mrs. Joe (Darlene) Naig, all of Emmetsburg and Terry Sidles of Spirit Lake; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Also surviving are brothers and sisters Eliza Sidles of Estherville, Lawrence Sidles of Emmetsburg, Mrs. Iva Cole of Estherville, Earl Sidles of Estherville, and Mrs. Dorothy Loftis of Estherville.
Mr. Sidles was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers. (Democrat, Emmetsburg, IA, June 21, 1979)
