Dallas G. Smith Funeral Services Held at Bethany
Funeral services for Dallas Gary Smith, 23, of Emmetsburg were held Monday afternoon at Bethany Lutheran Church with the Rev. Erling Hansen officiating. Burial was in East Lawn [East Side] cemetery at Estherville with Martin’s in charge.Dallas died Feb. 23 of a sudden light stroke after a prolonged illness.
Dallas Gary Smith was born in Estherville Aug. 27 [?], 1939, a son of Lillian and Victor Smith (deceased). The Smith family moved here from Britt 15 years ago. There were many activities that Dallas could not participate in due to his handicap, but he enjoyed visiting with everyone and always was cheerful.
Survivors include his mother, two sisters and three brothers: Mrs. Ted Miller (Jolene) of Union, Ohio; Mrs. Jack Bremer (Darlene) of Moville; Eugene of Onawa and Edwin and Joel of Emmetsburg. Also surviving are his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank P. Smith of Estherville and Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Woith of Bloomington, Ill., and ten nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were William Ruddy, Morris Ruddy, Eddie Ruddy, Pat Ruddy, Michael Flannegan and Max Norvell.
Leonard Johnson was soloist accompanied by Mrs. Alice Trelstad, organist. (Emmetsburg Democrat, Emmetsburg, IA, February 28, 1963)
