Mrs. Sternborg, Sr. Dies Monday After Prolonged Illness
Death came to Mrs. Fred [Eka J. Sterenburg] Sternborg on Monday [March 1, 1937] morning after an extended illness. Mrs. Sternborg has been in failing health for a long time, but has not been confined to her bed until a few weeks ago.Mr. and Mrs. Sternborg have resided in this county thirty-seven years. They resided on their farm until about twenty years ago and moved to this city to spend their declining years. Mr. Sternborg suffered a stroke last fall and has been confined to his bed since that time.
Mrs. Sternborg was born in Foreston, In., on September 19, 1867. She came to Grundy County with her parents in 1883 and resided there until coming to Emmet County in 1900.
The funeral services were held Wednesday in the Methodist church at 2:30 p.m., the Rev. F.W. Ortmeyer officiating. Interment was made in Oak Hill cemetery.
The deceased leaves to mourn her death her husband, three sons and three daughters; Fred of this city, Albert of Huntington, Richard of Spirit Lake, Mrs. J.M. VanValkenberg and Mrs. Max Finch of this city and Mrs. Geo. Weible of Rolfe. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, March 4, 1937)
