Estherville – Services for Raymond Herman Spoo, 76, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Richard Berger officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. He died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 1989 at Marian Health Center, Sioux City.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home from 3-9 p.m. Wednesday.

He was born March 11, 1913 at Estherville, the son of John and Martha (Zerke) Spoo, and attended rural Emmet County school. March 6, 1940 he was united in marriage with Loretta Carlson at Estherville. The couple farmed south of Estherville. Spoo retired in 1968 and the couple moved into Estherville. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife Loretta, Estherville; one son Darryll, Estherville; three daughters: Mrs. Roger (Sharen) Cassem, Estherville; Mrs. Dennis (Patricia) Thomas, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Mrs. John (Connie) Wieck, Montgomery; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers: Herbert, Woodville, Wis.; Kenneth Sr., Emmetsburg; John (Jack), Iowa Falls and Donald, Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-granddaughter. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 9, 1989)
