Samuel Sorgenfrei Laid to Rest in East Side Cemetery
Funeral services were held last Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 for Samuel Sorgenfrei, who passed away at the home of his son, Peter Sorgenfrei, near Blue Earth, Minn., on last Saturday [June 24, 1933] night.Mr. Sorgenfrei was an old time resident of this county having come here some 41 years ago and resided on his farm until about a year ago when he went to live with his son.
He was a very industrious and prosperous farmer of the pioneer day. He was well known and well thought of by his neighbors and friends. He reared his family here. He resided with his son, Peter, and has one daughter living, Mrs. Catherine Griffith.
Mr. Sorgenfrei was eighty years of age at the time of his death. The remains were laid to rest in the family lot in the East Side Cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, June 28, 1933)
Gruver - A large number from this vicinity attended the funeral of Sam Sorgenfrei, an old settler of this county, at Estherville Lutheran church Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Sorgenfrei died Saturday night following a lingering illness at the home of his son Pete at Winnebago, Minn. He was buried in the East Side cemetery beside his wife.
