Funeral services were held Saturday [May 24, 1933] afternoon at the Norwegian Lutheran Church in Estherville for Sam Solmonson who passed away Wednesday night after a lingering illness. Mr. Solmonson lived in Swan Lake Township over thirty years. Those attending the funeral from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Rugtiv of Madison, Minn.; Ms. and Mrs. Harvey Bly; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bly, Mrs. John Bly and son, James, all of Garretson, S. Dak.; Mrs. Holden Jordahl, of Luverne, Minn., and Leslie Samp of Algona; Mr. and Mrs. Pete Overson and Al Combs of Fertile. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, May 31, 1931)

Funeral Services for Solmon Solmonson Held Saturday
Solmon Solmonson, who to his old time friends in this county, was better known as Sam Solmonson, passed away at his farm home north of Gruver, last Thursday morning at the age of 68.

We have had the pleasure of Mr. Solmonson’s acquaintance for many years. He has always been an honest and industrious farmer and has made a success of his chosen occupation.

The funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon at one-thirty at the home and at the Lutheran church in this city at two o’clock.

The deceased is survived by a wife [Emma Johnson Solmonson] and four sons, Harvey, Lawrence, Orville and Albert and by one daughter, Mrs. Jake Taylor, and a host of warm friends. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, May 31, 1933)
