Passes After Long Illness
William Simpson, well known retired farmer of the Estherville community died at his farm home northwest of here Monday [December 31, 1934] afternoon. He had been in failing health with hardening of the arteries for four years and death was caused from cardiac failure. Mr. Simpson had resided in this community for 20 years. He was born in LaSalle county, Ill., on July 12, 1867.

Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at two o’clock at the Mahlum and Anderson funeral chapel in charge of Rev. Shelmandine, rector of Grace Episcopal church. Musical numbers were rendered by Mesdames J.E. Stockdale and John Greig, with Mrs. W.E. Deming at the piano.

Burial will be made at Ottawa, Ill., today.

Surviving Mr. Simpson are his wife and four children, three sons, George, Francis and John all of Estherville and Mrs. Edna Carlson of Des Moines. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, January 3, 1935)
