Man Killed in One-car Accident
Funeral services for a 25-year-old former Estherville man killed in a one-car accident near Grand Marais, Minn., early Sunday morning will be held Thursday.

Kenneth Simacek, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Simacek, Estherville, was killed when his car left Good Harbor Hill Road on a curve and struck a tree, Cook County authorities reported. Simacek’s 17-year-old brother-in-law, Dale Erickson of Grand Marais, was a passenger in the car. He was not seriously injured.

He was born July 10, 1944, at Sherburn and later moved to a farm near Estherville with his parents.

Simacek was married March 11 to Anita Erickson of Grand Marais at Sherburn. The couple was planning to move to Estherville in a few weeks. He was planning to work in Armstrong. He attended Gruver High School.

He is survived by his wife; parents; one sister, Mrs. Dennis (Lynda) Wilson of Mountain Iron, Minn.; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Conlin of Des Moines and Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Simacek, Sherburn, Minn.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Grand Marais. The body will be brought to Estherville following the services, where friends may call between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Services will be held at the Estherville church at 2 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Karl Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in the East Side Cemetery.
