Harry Sidles Dies After Heart Attack
Harry Watson Sidles, 86, died suddenly following a heart attack last night at the home of his son, V.H. Sidles of Estherville.Family services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Reese Funeral Home, Rev. Howard Wakelin officiating. Public services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery.
The casket will not be opened following the services.
Pallbearers will be John Rugtiv, Edwin Sorum, P.E. Fretem, Verdae Sawyer, Melvin Petersen and S.B. Grinde.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. today until time of the family rites Saturday.
Mr. Sidles was born Nov. 15, 1878 in Pontiac, Ill., the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Sidles. He received his education in Illinois and rural Emmet county schools.
He moved with his family to a farm near Huntington when 10 years old.
On June 7, 1905, he married Josephine Ruby at her family’s farm near Huntington. Following the marriage, the couple moved to Estherville, where he was in the paint contracting business until his retirement in 1938.
He moved to the home of his son, V.H., following his wife’s death on Dec. 31, 1961.
He was a member of the Methodist church of Estherville.
Survivors include two sons, V.H. (Ole) and Lester; and one grandson, L. Richard Sidles, all of Estherville.
His parents, wife and three brothers preceded him in death. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 9, 1965)
