Estherville – Services for Sophie Mary Von Behren, 76, were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Wallingford Lutheran Church with Pastor Virgil Anderson officiating. Interment was in East Side Cemetery. She died Friday, June 21, 1991 at Holy Family Hospital. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home of Estherville was in charge of arrangements.

Sophie Mary Ukasick, daughter of Henry and Thecia (Pasierb) Ukasick, was born Aug. 24, 1914 at Cicero, Ill. She moved with her family to the Lakefield, Minn. area as a young girl and attended Lakefield Schools. On Sept. 1, 1938 she was united in marriage with Henry Von Behren at Sioux City. The couple lived in the Jackson-Lakefield are until 1956 when they moved to Estherville where she worked at P.G. Grey’s and later Land-O-Lakes in Estherville a number of years. She retired in 1974. She was a member of the Wallingford Lutheran Church.

She is survived by two sons: August of Estherville and Darold of Gruver; two daughters: Mrs. Arnold (Judy) Reetz and Mrs. Roland (Mary) Beck, both of Estherville; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Steve Ukasick, Lakefield; two step-sisters, Mrs. Julia Gunderson, Odebolt and Mrs. Agnes Roslandsky, Lakefield.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who died Jan. 1, 1975; one grandchild; parents and four step-brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 26, 1991)
