Joseph Zaugg
Estherville – Services for Joseph Zaugg, 80, will be held Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. at Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Kermit Rye officiating. Interment is at East Side Cemetery in Estherville. He died Saturday, Feb. 21, at Good Samaritan Apartments.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville from 2 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

Zaugg was born Dec. 9, 1906, in West Bend, the son of Ernest and Elizabeth (Gerber) Zaugg. He attended country school. He was united in marriage to Cora Sunde on July 3, 1949 at Estherville Lutheran Church. He did farm work and was a school custodian and bus driver in the West Bend area before moving to Estherville in 1949. He worked as a custodian in the Estherville School System. He also served as a volunteer fireman for a number of years. He was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two brothers: C.E. Zaugg of Algona, and Ben Zaugg of Rockford, Ill.; four sisters: Mrs. Ray (Margaret) Banwert, Mrs. Laura Valian both of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Philip (Katherine) Fisher of West Bend, and Mrs. Dale (Della) Persinger of Minneapolis.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and three brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 23, 1987)
