Mrs. George Vedder dies; services set Thursday
Mrs. George C. (Kathryn) Vedder, 74, died at about 5 p.m. Monday [July 12, 1971] at Rosewood Manor in Estherville. She had been in ill health for the past six months.

Mrs. Vedder was born on Aug. 30, 1896 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Vander Stoep, in Orange City. She attended the Orange City schools and graduated from Northern Academy, Orange City, prior to attending two sessions of the Iowa State Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls.

She was a teacher in the Sioux County and Ringsted schools.

She held membership in the United Methodist Church, the Eastern Star and White Shrine.

Her husband was a linotype operator for the Estherville Daily News for many years, and following his death, she was a proofreader for the Daily News for 15 years, retiring from the post in late fall of 1970, due to her illness.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Mildred) Huntsinger, and Mrs. Fay (Kathleen) Higgins, Estherville, and Mrs. Kenneth (Mary Ann) Jacobson, Emmetsburg; two sons, Frank and Verlyn, Estherville; 14 grandchildren and five grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Vedder will be on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Estherville, with the Rev. Richard Pearson officiating. Burial will be in the East Side Cemetery, Estherville.

Visitation at Reese-Henry Funeral Home, Estherville, will be after 10 a.m. Wednesday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 13, 1971)
