Estherville – Services for Herbert E. Schwidder, 58, of Estherville will be held at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11 with Reverend Ernest Gafkjen presiding. Interment will be in the East Side Cemetery. There will be full military graveside rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3388 and American Legion Post No. 91 of Estherville. He died November 7 at the American International Hospital in Zion, Ill.

Friends may call at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 10 from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m.

He was born on June 5, 1934 in Spirit Lake, the son of Walter and Viola (Mott) Schwidder. He married Geneva K. Novak on August 28 in Sioux Falls, S.D. He married Jane Wycoff on June 5, 1991 in Estherville. He lived all his life in the Estherville area and served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He was employed by John Morrell from 1950 until 1982.

He is survived by his wife, two sons; Randy Schwidder of Provo, Utah; Gary Schwidder of Estherville. One daughter, Diane Schwidder of Estherville. Other survivors include five sisters, Margie Howard, Estherville; Norma Jean Schwidder, Estherville; Sandy Durnell, Emmetsburg; Linda Schwidder, Estherville; and Eleanor Guy, LuVerne. Two brothers: Robert Schwidder, Estherville and James Schwidder, Estherville, and one grandson, Nick Schwidder of Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva, his parents and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 9, 1992)
