Longtime Resident of City Dies
Mrs. John S. (Johanna) Sabo, 91, a resident of Estherville for 64 years died at 7:57 a.m. today at her home, 808 N. 11th St. Mrs. Sabo had been in rapidly failing health since Sept. 2.

Johanna Julia Johnson was born Dec. 5, 1871, in Story County but moved with her parents when a small girl to an Emmet County farm.

She was married to John S. Sabo on March 22, 1899 at Estherville. Mr. and Mrs. Sabo began married life in the house where Mrs. Sabo lived until her death.

She was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church.

Survivors include one son, Lawrence of Estherville; two daughters, Mrs. Edna Sabo Nemitz and Mrs. Nelson (Bernette) Wheatley, both of Estherville, and three great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. C. Wilde of Ortonville, Minn.; Mrs. Joe Aalborg and Mrs. Olaf Myhre, both of Estherville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers and four sisters.

A family service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Reese Funeral Home chapel and at 2 p.m. at Estherville Lutheran Church, the Rev. Roy Hendrickson officiating. Burial will be in East Side cemetery.

Friends may call at Reese Funeral Home from noon Sunday until 1:30 p.m. Monday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 21, 1963)
