Estherville – Services for Craig Ross, 27, Estherville, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Estherville, with the Rev. Ronald Flentgen officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery.
Mr. Ross was fatally injured Tuesday [September 20, 1977] in a two pickup crash 3 ˝ miles south of Superior and one mile west of the Emmet-Dickinson County line.
Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home from 1 p.m. Thursday until 9:30 a.m. Friday, when the body will be taken to the church.
Mr. Ross was born Nov. 20, 1949, at Estherville, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph H. Ross. He began his education in the Superior School District, finished grade school in Estherville and graduated from Estherville High School in 1968. He served as president of the 1968 graduating class. Following graduation he attended Iowa Lakes Community College for one year and the University of Iowa for four years.
He was married to Susan Kay Moser Nov. 29, 1975, at Alta. He lived in Estherville his entire life and had been engaged in farming northeast of Estherville the past two years.
Mr. Ross was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher and was coach for the church’s softball team.
He is survived by his wife, Susan; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph H. Ross; one daughter, Meghan, 11 months old; one stepson, Chad Svendson; four brothers, Tom Ross, Minneapolis, Minn., Dennis Ross, rural Estherville, and Tim Ross and Brian Ross, both at home; two sisters, Mrs. John (Cheryl) Klingbeil, Estherville, and Eileen Ross, Denver, Colo. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 21, 1977)
