Funeral services for Phyllis T. Roehler, 72, of Estherville will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Estherville with Pastor Glenn S. Bohmer officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery.

She died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.

Phyllis Teleen Wunn, the daughter of Wesley and Prudence (Lloyd) Wunn, was born May 8, 1934, in Dickinson County, Iowa.

Phyllis was baptized and confirmed in the United Methodist Church in Ruthven. She received her education and graduated from Ruthven High School in 1952. Phyllis then worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell for several years.

On Aug. 30, 1953, she was united in marriage to Ronald Roehler at the United Methodist Church in Ruthven. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Estherville. Phyllis was the service department manager at Sears for nearly 20 years. While working she also attended Iowa Lakes Community College. Ronald died in 1985.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, VFW Auxiliary, MOCA, RSVP, and VACS. For hobbies, she enjoyed embroidery, birds, sewing, crafts, and she quilted lap robes for the VA Hospital.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, R. Scott Roehler and his wife, Marcia, of Estherville, Valerie Canada and her husband, Milton, of Seminole, Texas, and John Roehler and his wife, Nancy, of Dunnell, Minn.; grandchildren, Jennifer Sherfield and her husband, Mike, and their son, Cole, Jessica Powell and her husband, William, and their daughter, Elizabeth, Jerome Pickering and his wife, Shannon, Nikole Tackett, Stephanie Franzen, and Matthew Roehler; sister, Lu Eaton of Ruthven; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Donald, and two sister, Lois Boers and Audrey Roberts. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January, 2007)
