Mrs. Mary Remling died suddenly Friday afternoon at the home of her son, near Mud Lake. The deceased was apparently in her normal health and had laid down after dinner to take a nap, from which she never awakened. Mrs. Remling was seventy-three years old, and had resided with her son for some time. The remains were shipped to Granger, Mo., for interment. Mrs. Mary Schmidthers Remling was born in Switzerland Jan. 12, 1843. She came to America in 1855, and settled in Missouri. She was married to Henry Remling, who died July 28, 1894. The following children were born to this union: Henry Remling of Hooker, Okla., Annie Noblitt, Amanda Gardner, and Emma Noblitt of Jasper, Mo., John Remling, of Rockford, Ia., Otto Remling of Wallingford, Iowa, Mary Mohr, Etna, Mo., Willie Remling, Optimo, Okla., and Lizzie Remling, who died Nov. 4, 1891.
Mrs. Remling has made her home most of the time with her son, Otto, near Wallingford. In the afternoon of the fourteenth of January, 1916, her weary spirit returned to her maker who gave it to rest from the toil and a long and industrious life of usefulness. She reached the ripe old age of 74 years and 2 days. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, January 19, 1916)
