Death of James Pullen
James Pullen died at the home of is daughter, Mrs. H. E. McCoy, at Pittsville [Platteville], Wis., on Sunday, September 4th, at the age of eighty-five years, after a sickness of many months. Deceased came to Emmet county thirty-six years ago and settled on a farm four miles north of this city where he made his home continuously until a few years ago when he moved into town and lived with his son, W. J. Pullen. About a year ago he went to Pittsville to make his home with his daughter. Until late years he had always been a hardworking man and had accumulated considerable property. He was a man of very few words but those who knew him say that he was kindhearted and generous and always ready to help those in need. The remains were brought here Monday evening and funeral services held yesterday afternoon at the home W. J. Pullen and the remains interred in the East Side Cemetery. Four sons Warren J., Henry M., and Thomas M. Pullen and John Barker all living in this city, and two daughters, Mrs. H. E. McCoy, of Pittsville, Wis., and Mrs. Alice Heathman, of Plover, Ia., are left to mourn his death. The many friends of the deceased in this community extend their deepest sympathy to the bereaved relatives in their hours of profound sorrow. James Pullen Passes Away at Home of Daughter in Wisconsin
James Pullen who was well known to all the older residents of Estherville and Emmet county, passed away last Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. E. McCoy in Pittsville, Wis. The remains were brought to this city, the funeral being held from the residence of Warren J. Pullen yesterday afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. A. C. Church of the Free Baptist church and the interment was in the east side cemetery.The deceased was nearly 85 years of age at the time of his death. He lived here for many years, going to Wisconsin last spring to make his home with his daughter. He had been seriously ill for some time and his death was not unexpected. He is survived by seven children, John Barker, George Pullen, Henry Pullen of this city, Mrs. H. E. McCoy of Pittsville, Wis., and Mrs. George Hetham of Plover, Iowa.
