Son of Local Couple Dies
Steven F. [Frank] O誰eil, 45, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Barbas, died last night at a Sioux Falls hospital where he was taken by ambulance yesterday morning after having been hospitalized at Holy Family Hospital for the past month. Mr. O誰eil had been ill for the past several months.He was born Sept. 17, 1918 at Moberly, Mo., and received his education in the St. Paul schools.
In 1937, he moved with his parents to Estherville and when 19 years old he enlisted in the United States Army. He served overseas in the European Theater in the Medical Corps and earned the rank of staff sergeant.
Mr. O誰eil later transferred to the Paratroops and trained at Fort Benning, Ga. Following his release from the Armed Services he served with the War and Administrative Services for a period of time. For the past eight years he had been employed as a postal clerk in the main post office at Odessa, Tex.
While in the Armed Forces, Mr. O誰eil was married to the former Marjorie Reese.
He is survived by two sons, Dan and Tom, both of Odessa, Tex., his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Barbas; two brothers, William J. O誰eil of Lincoln, Neb., and Gus Barbas of Omaha, Neb., and one sister Mrs. Melvin (Faye) Anderson of rural Estherville.
Funeral services are pending at Fuhrman Funeral Home. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 11, 1964)
