Estherville – Donald W. Loftus, 73, Estherville, died Thursday, April 6, at Holy Family Hospital.

Services for Mr. Loftus will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 10, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Albert O. Grendler officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery.

A Rosary will be said at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Saturday.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Loftus, he was born Dec. 13, 1904, at Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1922.

Mr. Loftus was married to Charlotte Johnson Sept. 17, 1938, at Fort Dodge. The couple moved to Estherville in 1945 where he managed the Grand Theatre until 1953, then was employed as an advertising salesman for the Estherville Daily News until his retirement in 1968.

Following retirement, they moved to Mountain Home, Ark., and returned to Estherville in July, 1977.

Mr. Loftus was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, past secretary of the Estherville Kiwanis Club and past member of the Estherville Chamber of Commerce.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte. Mr. Loftus was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. (Estherville Daily news, Estherville, IA, April 7, 1978)
