Services Held for Margaret Lynch
Services for Margaret Lynch were held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sutherland, Iowa, on Monday, June 22, 1987, at 9:00 a.m. with Father Anthony Pick officiating.
Anna Jordan served as organist and accompanied the Sacred Heart Choir as they sang Mass Hymns.
The casket bearers were John Sylvester, Mike Mathern, Mike Powell, Chuck Kummerfeld, Raynard Peterson, and Jim Flinders.
The committal service was held at St. Patrick’s Cemetery at Estherville, Iowa.
The rosary service was held at the Baumarten Funeral Home in Sutherland on Sunday, June 21, 1987, at 6:30 p.m.
The Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Margaret Elizabeth Lynch, the daughter of Andrew and Mary Ann Brogan Lynch, was born October 11, 1900 at Jackson, Minnesota. She moved with her parents at an early age to Estherville, Iowa, and received her education there, graduating from Estherville High School. She graduated from Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls, Iowa, and taught country school for several years. Margaret joined the Sutherland School System and taught in the elementary school for over forty years, retiring in 1967. She will be remembered by several generations of Sutherland residents who had her as a teacher.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish at Sutherland, Catholic Daughters and St. Anne’s Guild. For the last several years, she had been a resident of Millies Rest Home at Sutherland.
She passed away at the hospital in Primghar on June 19, 1987, at the age of 86. Preceding her in death were her parents. Among her survivors are several cousins. (Sutherland Courier, Sutherland, IA, June 25, 1987)
